VETERANS.....ONSCREEN

The spotlight is on us once again with ITV News soon to feature our work in their regional news coverage. Reporter Claire Manning visited us at Pentillie Castle to talk to our beneficiaries for a film scheduled to run later this month. Many thanks to all those who came forward and for Suzi, Denise and Dave for agreeing to talk, on camera, about their experiences with us.
HEALTHY BODIES....HEALTHY MINDS

Our New Year fitness and wellbeing course, run in conjunction with the Plymouth Argyle Community Trust, has proved to be a big hit with our Artemis cohort. We’ve already been given some expert tips on diet and portion control as well as taking part in some gentle exercise including tennis and walking – with some valuable instruction on how to incorporate housework into your fitness routine. We hope to run another course with Argyle, for a mixed cohort, later in the year.

WITHIN THESE WALLS......AGAIN!

We’re taking applications now for our next, 10-step, soil-to-supper course which will be held, once again, in the historic walled garden on the Dartington Estate near Totnes. Last year’s course was one of the most successful we’ve run with the cohort reporting that, as well as having a great time, learning new skills and making new friends it helped improve confidence, decision-making and problem-solving skills. The next course will start on Wednesday 16th March and run each Wednesday to Weds 25th May (with a week off for Easter on Weds 20th April). If you’d like to take part please contact Bernard on [email protected].

A WALK ON THE WET SIDE

It was a damp start to 2022 for our first walk on Dartmoor with our friends at Random Badger – but a great turnout (of veterans and dogs) nonetheless. The walk culminated with tea and chips in the Fox Tor Cafe in Princetown. Our next walk is scheduled for Thursday 17th Feb. We can’t promise better weather but there will be team spirit, tea and almost certainly chips in abundance.  If you want to join us drop an email to Bernard at [email protected]

WITH A LOT OF HELP FROM OUR FRIENDS...
We couldn't do what we do without the help of some wonderful supporters and funding bodies. We're delighted to report recent awards from The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity and Greenwich Hospital to help us provide continued and new support to Naval and Marine veterans.

We're also delighted that The Swire Charitable Trust will support our work with ex-forces veterans for another 3 years and thank you also to the Edgar Lawley Foundation and the Hedley Foundation.
